THE FLAWS of the GAA’s fixtures programme were highlighted in Donegal this week with a player seeing four teams scheduled for Championship games in the space of seven days.
Niall O’Donnell, the joint captain of the Donegal minor football team, played for his county in Sunday’s All-Ireland MFC semi-final loss to Galway at Croke Park.
Last night, the St Eunan’s minors played a Northern Board MFC game against Gaoth Dobhair, but O’Donnell did not line out.
Another two St Eunan’s squads, of which O’Donnell is a member, will be in Championship action on Friday and Saturday evenings, the senior hurlers facing Burt in a semi-final on Friday and the senior footballers taking on Killybegs in a group game on Saturday.

Brian McIntyre and Kevin Kealy played for the minors last night and could also feature in both hurling and football championship matches later in the week.
Conor Parke, Sean McVeigh, Sean Halvey and Conor Flood will play both hurling and football championship within 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.
[adrotate group=”38″]St Eunan’s tabled a request to the Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) to have their senior football championship game with Killybegs put back to Sunday, but it was turned down..
O’Donnell sat out his club’s 1-12 to 1-7 MFC win over Gaoth Dobhair last night and earlier in the summer his county commitments meant that he missed St Eunan’s Under-21 Championship win over St Michael’s.
