JOHN FITZGERALD’S second half brace of goals helped Cloughaneely pull away from Glenfin to take the points in this Division 2 clash at Pairc Naomh Fionnan.

After a neck and neck first encounter it was sure to be much of the same for the return game today.
Cloughaneely’s Shaun McGarvey, who has made a recent return to the senior team, knocked over the first point of the day in the second minute.
Paddy O’Connor pointed Glenfin’s first of the day.
[adrotate group=”37″]In the 12th minute the strength of Cloughaneely’s Kevin Mulhern was felt throughout the Glenfin defense, he off-loaded the ball to John Fitzgerald who then found Ciaran McGeady resulting in McGeady netting Cloughaneely’s first goal.
The goal was subsequently followed up by a Fitzgerald point minutes later.
Glenfin, having not scored since the sixth minute, were rewarded for their persistence in the 21st minute when the combination of Stephen McGlynn and Paddy O’Connor delivered the ball to Kevin McGlynn who found the back of the net to bring it back to a one-point game.
[adrotate group=”68″]Just before the half time whistle both teams managed to add a point each to the score board, thanks to Cloughaneely’s Darren Ferry and Glenfin’s Jason Morrow.
It was anybody’s game going into the second half and the game progressed on a point for point basis until the final 10 minutes.
Glenfin produced a strong start with 2 points in quick succession as a result of a converted free from Conor McBride and a Stephen McGlynn point; putting Glenfin into the lead for the first time during the game.
[adrotate group=”38″]John McGarvey brought the game level again with a point in the 37th minute; however Daniel McGlynn put the visitors ahead again by one point in the 40th minute.
Kevin Mulhern, who showed strongly for the home-side drew the game level again in the 43rd minute, but was quickly counter-acted by a Morrow point for Glenfin.
Cloughaneely’s determination prevailed in the final 10 minutes; they managed to keep Glenfin scoreless while themselves scoring a total of 2-2.
