DONEGAL FINISHED OFF their Buncrana Cup (Under-16) campaign with victory over Armagh in this afternoon’s third and fourth place play-off at the Scarvey.
Donegal 2-9 Armagh 1-7
Donegal had trailed to a goal from Odhran Kieran goal approaching half-time but Oisin Gallen’s goal in the last minute of the first half made for a slender 1-5 to 1-4 lead.

Armagh – through Oisin Hughes and Ciaran McConville – scored the first two points of the second half to move back in front by one. But that was as good as it would get for the Orchard County.
Four points in success for Donegal, with Gallen and Ryan Brogan popping over twice apiece, meant Donegal were 1-9 to 1-6 in front.
Armagh did manage another score through Tiernan Kelly but Donegal finished the second period just as they did the first – with a goal.
This time it was Padraig Skelly who punched home a dropping ball from Aaron Doherty.
Donegal found themselves in the third and fourth placed play-off as a consequence of losing by a point to Monaghan in the semi-final in Muff earlier in the day. Armagh had gone down 3-14 to 2-7 against Derry.
Gallen scored two of Donegal’s first four points, with Odhran Doogan and Conor O’Donnell also on the mark. Armagh were always in touch, though, with Tom O’Hagan, Odhran and Justin Kieran scoring.
Donegal were 0-4 to 0-3 up before Armagh scored the breakthrough goal on 16 minutes when Odhran Kieran finished off an excellent move.

The Buncrana Cup final ended up a draw, 6-11 apiece between Derry and Monaghan. A replay date is to be confirmed.
