A YOUNG FINN HARPS player leaves tomorrow morning to begin a four-year soccer scholarship in America.
18-year-old striker Sam Murphy is off to the University of North Carolina to start the latest, exciting chapter in his career.
Murphy has been playing for the last couple of seasons with the Joe Boyle-managed Harps Under-19s.
Murphy, a son of Ray and Frances Murphy from Rossbracken in Letterkenny, previously wore the colours of Derry City for a time and played his schoolboy football with Bonagee United.

[adrotate group=”38″] He has represented Donegal at Inter-League level and also turned out for his school, St Eunan’s College.Upon the completion of his Leaving Certificate this summer, Murphy’s sights were set on the States and he accepted an offer from the University of North Carolina.
The famous Chapel Hill college is the alma mater of several sports stars.

Regard as the greatest basketball player of all-time, Jordan – a six-times NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls – completed a bachelor’s degree in cultural geography at UNC.
