BRENDAN O’DONNELL celebrated his 17th birthday in style today – by claiming a gold medal at the Celtic Games International.
Competing in Swansea, Lifford-Strabane AC man O’Donnell, won the hammer throw in some fashion.
O’Donnell reached out to 67.35 metres – a distance that was 11 metres ahead of his closest rival, Scotland’s Andrew Costello.
This was O’Donnell’s first time competing at the Celtic Games International.
Last year, he was competing at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi while the games were taking place.
Last month, the St Eunan’s College student finished tenth at the European Youth Athletics Championships, also held in Tbilisi.
