THE ORGANISERS of the 2016 Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup have confirmed that Bonagee United ladies have been retrospectively awarded a win in the senior ladies Rosebowl final.
Competition officials convened following the lodgement of a protest by Bonagee against the legality of a Lagan Harps player in Thursday’s final, which was played at Station Road Park in St Johnston.
Lagan won the game 5-0 with goals by Aoife Page, Ciana Brogan, Amy Boyd, Megan Reid and Kaneshia McKinney.
However, tournament organisers found that Lagan were in breach of a rule, after launching a probe in light of the objection.
Squad lists must be submitted prior to the competition’s commencement. On the opening day of the tournament, changes may be made, but from then on the 18 named on the squad are the only players permitted to play.
