THERE WAS A huge Donegal representation on the Derry City Under-17 side that won the Foyle Cup this evening.
Derry, with 13 players from Donegal in their ranks, overcame Trojans 3-0 at The Riverside Stadium in Drumahoe.
Denver Kelly from Tooban opened the scoring for the young Candystripes, managed by Buncrana man Gary Duffy.
Dungloe’s Daniel Ward slotted home the second and Aaron McColgan from Muff netted the third to seal the title for City.
[adrotate group=”37″]Of the 16 goals scored by the Derry Under-17s this week, 15 were netted by Donegal men – the other was an own goal in the 1-1 draw with Donegal Celtic on Wednesday.
Sean McBride, Daniel Ward, Shane McNamee, Jordan Ryan, Connor Gormley, Conor O’Donnell, Jason McCallion, Shane Dillon, Fionn McClure, Aaron McColgan, Denver Kelly, Evan Tweed, and Ciaran Farren are all part of the City squad.

On Monday night, they defeated Willowbank 4-3 with McBride, Gormley, O’Donnell and McColgan scoring.
[adrotate group=”38″]They were 5-0 victors over Newbuildings on Tuesday with Gormley, McNamee, McColgan, McBride and O’Donnell netting.
After Wednesday’s draw, City then defeated Drumkeen United 3-0 in Thursday’s semi-final, where Kelly netted twice and McBride bagged the other.
