THERE WEREN’T TOO many smiles – more a sign of relief – from those in the colours of Buncrana following their Donegal MHC final win.
Ben Doherty goaled from an injury time free to give the side from Scarvey a dramatic 3-6 to 1-11 victory over a St Eunan’s side who dominated the second half.

Doherty gave a frank and honest appraisal and despite the finale, labelled the Buncrana performance “an utter disgrace.”
[adrotate group=”56″]Of the match-winning goal Doherty said: “There wasn’t going through my head. I was just going for goal and that was it. I just hit it and hoped for the best.
“We need to get at for Ulster now. Eunan’s ran us off the field. That was an utter disgrace from us. We need to get the team back together. I do feel a bit sorry for St Eunan’s. We need to get back to where we were.”
Captain Kevin Vaughan admitted he was looking towards a higher force as his teammate stood over the late free.
“I was just praying, I wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night had he missed that,” Vaughan said. “Without doubt St Eunan’s were the better team in that second half. It looked like our chance was gone. Luckily in the end Ben stuck one and we won it.”
