ILLIES GOLDEN GLOVES’ ‘Little Miss Dynamite’ Chloe McDaid is set to shine on her biggest stage yet on Friday night.
The light-flyweight will take on Maria Edwards at The National Stadium in what is the first ever schoolgirl international to be staged in Ireland.
Top prospects from both countries are slated to battle it out for home nation supremacy – including Irish Girl 3 50kgs champion McDaid.
In May, she became the first female boxer from Illies to win a national title when she overcame Sinainn Glynn from Cloghan in County Offaly, having previously won her third Ulster title, defeating Rathfirland’s Morgan McNulty in the final.

“I’m really looking forward to it – especially because it’s boxing for Ireland,” McDaid told Donegal Sport Hub.
“It’s a big honour to be selected for Ireland. I can’t wait to get into the Stadium. I’m really enjoying my boxing now. I want to thank my coaches at Illies who have done so much for me in the last few months.
[adrotate group=”46″]“To win an Irish title was amazing, but now to be picked to box for Ireland is just something else.”
McDaid is a student at Crana College in Buncrana and is on the rise in the sport.
The IABA President Pat Ryan is thrilled to be playing host to an occasion such as Friday’s.
“We are delighted to host this international meeting with England at the National Stadium and we’re all very much looking forward to what is an historic first, he said.

“We can see the talent consistently emerging from our clubs who deserve enormous credit.Hundreds of young our boxers entered the Girls Championships this year. It is a very exciting time for the sport.”
