TYRONE ARE unbeaten in 18 matches this year and have won the O’Fiaich Cup, the McKenna Cup and Division 2 of the Allianz League – but the Ulster title is the one they crave.
Defender Aidan McCrory was the man who accepted the the O’Fiaich Cup way back in December. That win was the start of what has been a long, yet progressive run of form for the Red Hands.
Now, they stand in their first Ulster final since 2010 and staring across at the other corner to their arch nemesis, Donegal.
“It’s been a while since we were in a final of a serious note,” McCrory told Donegal Sport Hub.
“The Ulster final is at the top of the wish list when you’re training and we’re just delighted to be here.
“We’ve been doing a rebuild and we have a good few new players in. It’ll be a fresh experience for a lot of our boys.
“We can have no complaints about the season so far. This is just another game, hopefully, on the path.”
[adrotate group=”79″]Like Donegal, Tyrone had to negotiate a replay in their semi-final before getting beyond Cavan’s challenge.
Errigal Ciaran clubman McCrory was quite content to do battle with the Breffni a second time.
He said: “The short build-up suits us because we’ve got straight back down to work again.
“You’ll never turn down a replay, it’s another good Championship game. It was a good chance to learn from the mistakes.
[adrotate group=”78″]“The first day out, either team could have won it. We missed a chance to take it, but Cavan also missed plenty of chances. We didn’t take them lightly at all. We just wanted to make as many improvements as we could.”
