Uachtarán CLG Aogán Ó Fearghail has paid tribute to the late Raidió na Gaeltachta commentator Séamus Mac Géidigh, who passed away suddenly last Monday and who will be buried tomorrow in Gortahork.
Séamus had a long and distinguished career as a broadcaster and commentator of the very highest calibre and who made an immense contribution not only to the promotion of Gaelic games, but also to our native language.
His funeral mass will take place at Teach Pobail Chríost Rí in Gortahork tomorrow, Friday, at 12 noon and will be broadcast live on RTE Player.
Uachtarán Ó Fearghail said: “Séamus was a great Gael and a great commentator.
“He was blessed with a unique gift for being able to bring our games to life for people listening in on radio, and make them feel a part of the action.
“He was universally liked and respected and we were blessed to have him and his talents dedicated to the GAA.
“I knew Séamus personally for over twenty years and counted him a close friend. Above all his many gifts and talents, his greatest gift was his humility.
“Fear lán le buana ach fear iontach umhal a bhí ann. Fear uasal, Conallach bródúl ab ea é. Tá ár gcomhbhrón ó chroí le Dolores, a bhean chéile, agus lena theaghlach ar fad.”
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
