JOSEPH DUFFY RETURNS to action tomorrow night in Las Vegas, six months after his defeat to Dustin Poirier.
The 28-year-old Burtonport man takes on Canadian Mitch Clarke at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at UFC Fight Night 90.
Duffy was last in action in January when he lost on points to Poirier, also at the MGM Grand.
Poirier’s 30-26 30-27 30-27 win was Duffy’s first defeat since he signed a contract with the UFC.
Tomorrow night in Sin City, Duffy will take on Canada’s Mitch Clarke as part of the card which features the lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and current champion Rafael Dos Anjos.
[adrotate group=”55″]Duffy is 14-2 as a mixed martial artist and comes up against the 11-3 Clarke, returning after over a year out of the octagon.
Clarke’s last bout was a loss to Michael Chiesa in Virginia last April.
The Duffy-Clarke bout opens up the main card of tomorrow night’s action in Vegas.
“When you’re here, you’re away from home and forget what it means to people,” Duffy told severemma.com.
“I train for myself because I enjoy it, and I compete for myself because I enjoy it, but at the same time doing well to represent the people in my county, the people in my country and the people who have supported me from day one. It’s always been the thing that’s spurred and drove me on.
“Back Home in Ireland, MMA has blown up and people really know who you are. Where as here, I walk down the street and it’s just a normal day. Nobody knows who I am, and nobody cares. It’s just another day. That’s kind of how I like it. I like to fly under the radar.”
Duffy now resided in Montreal and trains at the Tristar Gym under coach Firas Zahabi.
