LETTERKENNY GAELS got their Under 21 campaign off to a winning start with a solid performance over Red Hughs at the Cross on Wednesday evening.

Although both teams took time to settle, It was the visitors who raced into a 1-7 to 0-2 lead by half-time.
The Gaels goal coming in the 16th minute from the boot of Aidan Hanley after some good team work. Donal O’Malley (2), Shay Doherty (2), Joe Friel, Aaron Diver, and Jason Doherty were the other Gaels scorers while Jason Sweeney and Justin McBride were the scorers for the home team.
[adrotate group=”70″]The Red Hughs boys rallied in the third quarter and reduced the deficit to two points with scores from Pauric McMenamin, Odhran Doherty and Jason Sweeney and a converted penalty from Justin McBride.
The visitors raised their efforts in the last quarter with Jason Doherty, Patrick Doherty, Shay Doherty (2), Pauric Moore, Sean McDonagh all converting.
Goalkeeper Shane Graham converted two long range points from frees to send Gaels through to the next round.
