PEADAR MOGAN watched most of the second half from the bench after a black card – but was delighted to see the Donegal minors reach the Ulster final on Saturday.
Shaun Paul Barrett’s team were under the cosh when Mogan was sent off with Monaghan turning the screw at the time.
But they went on to win 3-15 to 2-12.
“It’s unbelievable to get over the line,” Mogan said.
[adrotate group=”53″]“It’s an amaxing feeling to be in the Ulster final. You could see the emotion after the game and what it means.”
The St Naul’s man was watching through his fingers at time.
Donegal had a fine first half and were good value for a 2-7 to 0-5 lead at the break with Jason McGee and Eoghan McGettigan scoring goals early and late in the first period.
[adrotate group=”43″]That lead was almost wiped out by Monaghan, who roared from the half-time blocks, hitting 1-3, including a deadly goal by Robbie McAlister, who capitalised on poor defending by Donegal.
Donegal steadied themselves as Odhrán McFadden-Ferry netted, only for Monaghan to issue an instant response.
Mogan said: “They got back into it, but that came from our mistakes. We shouldn’t have let them back into it.
“We came back with scores and some excellent performances. It showed how much we wanted it.
[adrotate group=”37″]“We showed character – and that’s what this team is all about.”
