IN A CORNER of the Stade De Lyon, two men waved goodbye after going to a great war one last time.
Shay Given and Robbie Keane have 278 Republic of Ireland caps between them, but following this afternoon’s 2-1 defeat to France at Euro 2016, the veteran duo are expected to call it a day.
Their waves were long and final.
The Green Army serenaded them one last time.
[adrotate group=”66″]Given had retired from international football after Euro 2012, but in September 2014 he played against Oman in a 2-0 friendly win.
Given soon became Martin O’Neill’s first choice goalkeeper, but the Liffordman picked up a knee injury last October during the famous 1-0 win over Germany that reignited Ireland’s hopes of making it to France.
Given was blighted by injury during the season and despite a late bid by the 40-year old, it was Darren Randolph who played the four games in France.
