MICHAEL MURPHY says the thought of the start of the Ulster SFC gives him the ‘butterflies’.
The Donegal skipper, still 26, will lead his team in what his 10th championship season when Fermanagh come to Ballybofey on Sunday afternoon. It’s Donegal’s first championship outing – the last of the nine Ulster counties to take to the field.

“It’s something we’re ready to go,” Murphy said. “Fermanagh are a team that’s been together four or five years. They’re very pacey and they’re very dangerous. They’ve really developed and very well structured and developed. That’s the challenge that’s been brought forward to us. There’s questions we have to answer.”
Donegal’s league form left a few question marks. Following three wins in succession to start, there were five losses that followed.

The newer lads that have been embedded in the squad have really pushed the thing on. From being around, they’ve been putting on the pressure. It’s the same with the older lads. There’s a bit more pep. It’s up to us to have the best team out there on the day.
“You’re always going to be more excited. There’s butterflies there.”
