Christy Gillespie’s Scoil Cholmcille survived a late onslaught to lift the 2016 girls final at a sun drenched Glenties.
Scoil Cholmcille An Tearmainn 7-9 Frosses NS 4-2
Gillespie – a former Kilcar stalwart – pitted his team against Frosses, who were managed by Charlie Kenny – a former Naomh Ultan great but now resident in Carrick.

From the off, Gilllispie, who had his homework done, knew for Termon to be victorious that Frosses’ Naoimi Kelly’s contribution had to be curtailed.
No better Termon lady than Rebecca Steel to step up to the plate and for the entire match the battle between the two girls displayed what the GAA is really all about.
What Rebeacca Steel didn’t scoop up in the backline, Bridget Fagan in the Termon goals dealt with in superb fashion.
Orlaith Green and Caitlin Ward from Frosses NS were also causing Gillespie some missed heart beats but once Aine McLaughlin, Jodie McFadden and Michelle Gallagher came to terms with the speed of the game Termon were on a roll and looked unstoppable.
Frosses suffered a great loss with the experienced Aoibhinn Gallagher, unable to field due to a hand injury and thus struggled with the pace of the game whilst Termon’s Jody Mc Fadden, Orlaith Mc Laughlin, Aibhe Mc Daid and Mary Crumlish, all put scores on the score board in the first half .
Frosses contributors were the two danger girls Naoimi Kelly and Niamh Moohan.

Whatever Kenny said to his team at the break had an immediate result with two green flags raised for Frosses in quick succession before Termon settled with scores from Jody McFadden, Orla Gallagher and Aine McDaid.
Gillespie pulled a master stroke when he replaced several players who had played their hearts out in very humid conditions.
While Frosses’ Caoilfhinn Deely narrowed the gap the experienced Termon school ran out convincing winners by a final score of Termon 7-8 Frosses 4-2.
Daithi Roberts, prior to presenting the the shield to the joint Termon captains, priaised both teams for a fine display of football.
