NAOMH CONAILL’S BID to win back to back Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta titles remains on track following their semi-final win this evening.
Naomh Conaill 1-20 Naomh Abán 2-15
The side managed by Martin Regan and Martin Doherty defeated the host club, Naomh Abán, in Ballyvourney and now take on An Ghaeltacht from Kerry in tomorrow’s final at 4pm.
This evening, Naomh Conaill came out on top in an open game, although the home support were unhappy to see Diarmuid Kelly sent off for two yellow cards 13 minutes from time.
John O’Malley scored Naomh Conaill’s goal on 21 minutes when he finished off a pass from Darragh Gallagher and the Glenties side were 1-10 to 1-7 up at the break with Michael Cronin goaling for the home side in the 30th minute.
Naomh Conaill’s forwards were a constant source of scores with Dermot Molloy scoring five times in all, O’Malley getting 1-3 and Seamus Corcoran posting three important points when things got tight.
With 13 minutes to go the sides were level at 2-12 to 1-15 but Naomh Conaill maintained their composure and points in the end from Gallagher and Brendan McDyer sealed the win.
