DONEGAL MANAGER RORY GALLAGHER has declared Michael Murphy fit to take part in Sunday week’s Ulster SFC quarter-final against Fermanagh.
Murphy picked up an ankle injury in his club Glenswilly’s loss to Ardara in the Donegal SFC last month. However, Gallagher explained his captain’s predicament.

“Michael rolled his ankle in the club championship, buts it’s not severe,”Gallagher said. “The ankle was swollen but he’s been back in training the last number of weeks. It was a minor strain to the ligament but thankfully he’s OK.”

“We have Darach O’Connor back,” Gallagher added. “He played a club league game and has been joining in the training matches in the last month.”
However, Murphy’s Glenswilly teammate Neil Gallagher, although “on the mend” according to his manager, is unlikely to be fit to take to the field in eight days’ time.

We have just eased him into it and he joined in the ball-work about 10 days ago. He wouldn’t be going for all the full training sessions, we are kind of minding him.
“But at the same time, he’s very much on the mend. Whether Sunday week comes too soon or not. Obviously he’s played one championship match with ourselves at this stage and he hasn’t played any club football.”
