GERALDINE MCLAUGHLIN HAS been named as the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Donegal Sport Hub Sports Personality of the Month for April.
The Termon native was at Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure this morning to collect her award from the Donegal captain and Charlie Collins, Chris McNulty and Alan Foley (pictured above).

“I’m playing county football since I was 11,” McLaughlin said. “It’s my first summer away. I’m there to mid-August. There’s 11 out of the panel going away but there’s still plenty there. This could be my last year in college so I just had to do it this year.”
Donegal, in May, defeated Westmeath at Parnell Park to secure their Division 1 status for 2017 with the spade work done a month beforehand.
[adrotate group=”53″]“It was a great month,” McLaughlin said of April. “We played a couple of tough games and played Cavan and Clare and to come through them with victories was important. We had to get into Division 1. Getting to the League final wasn’t even going to be good enough with only one team getting promoted.”
Perhaps McLaughlin’s standout performance in April was her astounding personal haul of 4-12 in Letterkenny Institute of Technology’s 4-15 to 3-15 win in the Donaghy Cup against IT Blanchardstown at UCD.
“It’s like a family. We all get on so well. It was great to win it. I got very good ball in. All you do is take the next ball and you don’t think about what you’ve done.”
