IT’S THAT TIME of the week again, where you get the chance to vote for your Anthony Conaghan Cars Donegal Sport Hub Player of the Week.
This week there were some impressive outings for both club and county so have a look at the options below, cast you vote below and then we’ll tell you on Sunday morning who you chose to be the Anthony Conaghan Cars Player of the Week.
So here’s your options:
1 Yvonne McMonagle (Donegal ladies)
YIP, her again! Yvonne McMonagle was the leading scorer as Donegal won the Lidl Ladies NFL Division 2 when they defeated Westmeath 3-17 to 0-14 at Parnell Park on Saturday evening. Her contribution of 2-5 helped the side managed by Michael Naughton to victory and the reigning Ulster champions can look forward to the defence of their championship with a 100 per cent record under their belts. They also have Division 1 football next spring.
2 Aoife McColgan (Donegal ladies)
AOIFE McColgan took a call from Michael Naughton only a few weeks ago to deputise in goal for the Donegal ladies in place of Laura Gallagher. On Saturday, live on TG4 the 16-year-old kept a clean sheet and made a number of fine saves to keep her team in front. The Malin native was back at work in SuperValu on Sunday morning in Carndonagh and her story is something of a fairytale and was picked up by a national audience.Â
3 Ciaran McGinley (Kilcar)
KILCAR have made a blistering start to life in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 1 and they managed to flow in the damp conditions on Towney on Saturday night, running up a comfortable 1-16 to 0-5 team against Francie Friel’s under-strength team. Ciaran McGinley kicked three points from midfield and drove his team onto another league victory ahead of the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Donegal SFC opener at St Eunan’s.
4Â Niall McCrossan (Ardara minors)
ARDARA began their County Minor League semi-final against St Eunan’s in Convoy on Wednesday night with five wides in succession  and it appeared as though their continuation in the competition was going to stutter from poor shooting. However, once Niall McCrossan found his range, Ardara started to get going and the corner-forward kicked seven placed balls to give his side a 1-10 to 0-10 win and set up a final against Naomh Conaill.
5 Eoghan McGettigan (Naomh Conaill)
HIS performance on Wednesday night in the Donegal Minor League semi-final was that of a special talent. McGettigan scored four goals and three points as Naomh Conaill defeated St Michael’s in an O’Donnell Park thriller. His night ended sourly with a sending off for a second booking in the final moments, but it was he who sounded the drum in style for Naomh Conaill throughout.
McGettigan fired home a goal after just 56 seconds of the game and scored three goals in the second half. So good was his display that his manager, John O’Malley remarked that ‘on his day, he’s as good as what’s out there’.
6 Paddy O’Connor (Glenfin)
GLENFIN had only one win to their name this season when they welcomed neighbours and Division 2 high-fliers Sean MacCumhaills to Pairc Tabhoige on Saturday night. Liam Ward’s men showed plenty of spirit and endeavour as they put their foes to the derby sword.
O’Connoe led the way with ten points as Glenfin won 0-15 to 1-9 in a magnificent display of scoring.
7 Peter Boyle (Aodh Ruadh)
AGAINST Letterkenny Gaels, Aodh Ruadh maintained their wonderful start to the season with a 2-11 to 1-11 success at Fr Tierney Park. John Doran managed to breach the line for a Gaels goal in the ninth minute and the visitors stayed in touch throughout the game, but that Aodh Ruadh won was largely down to goalkeeper Boyle. In the second minute, he tipped over from Shane McGlade and as Letterkenny Gaels sensed an opening late on Boyle did well to steer a free from Conor McBrearty over the crossbar.
