FANAD UNITED ENDED their league campaign with a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Letterkenny Rovers at Traigh-a-Loch on Friday evening.
Fanad United 2-4 Letterkenny Rovers
Rovers took the lead in the 10th minute when Darren McElwaine capitalised on some indecision in the Fanad defence to finish into the empty net. Fanad almost equalised 10 minutes later when following a Marty McAteer free kick, Killian Gallagher hit the crossbar with his header.
Five minutes later a corner into the Letterkenny box caused confusion and when Davitt Walsh knocked the ball back to Shaun McGarvey, his shot was saved well by Sean Friel. Rovers extended their lead on the half hour when McElwaine knocked down a corner to Brian McVeigh who finished from close range.
Rovers went three up 10 minutes into the second half when Anthony Gorman’s free was met by an unmarked McElwaine in the box and he headed home.
