IT’S THAT TIME of the week again, where you get the chance to vote for your Anthony Conaghan Cars Donegal Sport Hub for Player of the Week.
Well done to last week’s winner, Conor O’Donnell, from St Eunan’s College.
This week there were some impressive outings for both college, club and county so have a look at the options below, cast you vote below and then we’ll tell you on Saturday evening who you chose to be the Anthony Conaghan Cars Player of the Week.
So here’s your options:
1 Leon Thompson (Naomh Conaill)
Leon Thompson was named as man of the match in the Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta TÃr Chonaill as his Naomh Conaill side reclaimed the domestic crown they won in Ardara last year. This year, in Glenties, Thompson scored 1-4 in the final against Ardara as his side won 3-14 to 3-6 on home turf with the goal coming to confirm that triumph following a pass from John O’Malley.
2 Yvonne McMonagle (Glenfin)
In an excellent personal performance, Yvonne McMonagle was the reason that Glenfin managed to overcome an out-of-sorts Termon in the ladies final of the Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta TÃr Chonaill in Glenties on Bank Holiday Monday. McMonagle, who will be part of the Donegal side who take on Westmeath in the Lidl NFL Ladies Division 2 on Saturday, scored an incredible 4-3 in Glenfin’s 4-9 to 3-6 win.
3 David McGurrin (Aodh Ruadh)
Aodh Ruadh five-from-five at the summit of the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 3 last weekend with a 1-16 to 1-14 win at Urris. Central to that victory was David McGurrin. He scored the only goal of the game before half-time and helped himself to 1-3 to ensure the Ballyshannon side’s excellent start to the season continued.
4 Christopher Barrett (Milford)
Milford have made a competent start to life in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 2 with seven points picked up from six outings. On Friday last they welcomed Killybegs to Moyle View and following an entertaining contest that might’ve gone either way, both sides went home content with a 0-13 to 0-13. For Milford, Christopher Barrett scored five points from play.
5 Conor O’Donnell (St Eunan’s College)
Conor O’Donnell was the winner of last week’s award but there was no way he could be left out this week. The corner-forward was in electric form for St Eunan’s College against St Patrician Carrickmacross today in the Treanor Cup final, where St Eunan’s won 4-10 to 2-6 in Drumragh, Co Tyrone. O’Donnell scored an impressive 3-3 to help the side managed by Colm McFadden and Chris Carr win the trophy.
6 Eoghan Jordan (St Eunan’s College)
Whilst O’Donnell did the damage up top for St Eunan’s today, at the other end the Letterkenny side were certainly indebted to their goalkeeper, who made three top class saves to ensure their 4-10 to 2-6 win. St Eunan’s were only four points up when Cian Shekleston was denied by Jordan in two one-on-one situations. The St Eunan’s netminder also saved in injury time from Oisin O’Hanlon.
7Â Conor McBrearty (Letterkenny Gaels)
McBrearty has been in scintillating scoring form for the Gaels this year so far and he maintained the run on Saturday when he hit a stunning 2-4 against Buncrana. The Inishowen men had been one of the forerunners in the Division, but McBrearty’s haul inspired the Glebe side to a 3-8 to 2-8 win.
8 Aidan Lynch (Naomh Padraig, Muff)
The Iskaheen men joined Red Hughs at the top of the table by defeating the Killygordon side 2-10 to 1-9 in Ture on Saturday evening and Lynch was to the fore. Lynch scored one of the goals and was denied another, while he added a couple of points to steer his team to the summit.
