SWILLY ROVERS CAPTAIN SHAUN CROSSAN was delighted to see the training ground routines pay off as the Ramelton side captured the Colin Breslin Cup last night.
Both Swilly goals came from Marty Doyle corners and Crossan was quick to note that set-pieces hadn’t been his team’s speciality until now.
“We were practicing a bit on the training ground and it paid off,” Crossan told Donegal Sport Hub.
“It was a very hard-fought victory. Drumkeen set the standard all the way through the League and beat us twice. We just tried harder. They put it up to us on the day and we’re just delighted.
“Drumkeen put it up to us for the whole second half. They had us boxed in and we were nervous. We could have put it to bed, but we held out near the end.”
For Manor native Crossan and some of his team-mates, it was their last game at Youth level, but it was their first slice of silverware with the Swilly Park side.
Crossan said: “It’s great to leave with a bit of silverware. This is my last game at under-18 level and this is the first time I’ve won something. It means a lot, especially being the captain.”
