DONEGAL UNDER-21 MANAGER DECLAN BONNER has had his proposed six-month ban by the Ulster Council reduced on appeal.
Bonner will now serve a 12-week (three months) suspension following a hearing in Armagh last night.
Bonner appealed the initial 24-week ban and put his case to the Ulster Hearings Committee, who have cut the ban in half.
Bonner was hit with the proposed punishment after being cited for ‘abuse of the referee’ after Donegal’s Ulster Under-21 semi-final defeat by Tyrone at Celtic Park.
While that competition has now ceased, the ban means that Bonner will be prohibited from being on the side-line with St Michael’s for the start of the 2016 Michael Murphy Sports Donegal SFC in two weeks’ time.
Bonner is on Eddie Harkin’s management team with the Creeslough-Dunfanaghy side and will now be behind the wire for 12 weeks.
His ban came following a tempestuous ending to the semi-final in Derry.
Referee Barry Cassidy sent off Donegal players Stephen McMenamin and Bruce Waldron during the game won by Tyrone 1-15 to 2-8.
