CHLOE MAGEE WILL face the world number 27 Line Kjaersfeldt this afternoon in the third round of the European Championships in La Roche-sur-Yon in France.
The Raphoe woman needs a good finish for ranking points as she bids to qualify for what would be her third Olympic Games this summer.
Magee, who competed at the Olympics in 2008 in Beijing and in London in 2012, takes on the third seed Kjaersfeldt with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.
On Tuesday, Magee defeated England’s Chloe Birch 21-19, 18-21, 21-12 in her opening game.
Magee had little trouble in defeating Portugal’s Telma Santos 21-8, 21-9 in straight sets to move into the third round, where Kjaersfeldt lies in wait.
In the mixed doubles, Chloe will team up with her brother Sam to play German duo Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich.
On Tuesday, the Magee siblings pulled off a massive shock when they defeated number four seeds and former European champions Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba from Poland.
In a match that lasted some 54 minutes, the Magees won 21-18, 13-21, 21-18.
The winner of their clash with Lamsfuss and Herttrich will advance to the quarter-finals.
Sam and Joshua Magee bowed out of the men’s doubles after a 21-9, 30-28 loss against Danish pair Kim Astrup and anders Skaarup Rasmussen.
And Rachael Darragh, a niece of the Magees, had no joy in the women’s doubles. Darragh and Sara Boyle pushed French duo Marie Batomene and Emilie Lefel all the way but lost out 21-8, 17-21, 21-15.
