A DONEGAL LEAGUE goalkeeper took off the gloves yesterday to play the second-half of a Premier Division game outfield – and scored direct from a corner kick.
Cappry Rovers netminder Conor McBride played the second half of their game against champions elect Drumoghill FC at Cappry Park as an auxiliary striker.

Cappry were 3-0 down against Michael Lynch’s team, who are now just a point away from winning the Brian McCormick Sports Premier League title.
A brace by Pajo Rafferty after Ray Quinn’s opener put Drumoghill in control of the tie.
At half-time, veteran goalkeeper Benji O’Meara replaced Darren McGowan and McBride changed position.
In the 72nd minute, Cappry won a corner and McBride took the kick. McBride’s effort from the left-hand side sailed all the way beyond Drumoghill goalkeeper Paul McCauley and into the net.
It was only the second time McBride had played outfield having filled in for a Brian McCormick Sports Cup game at the start of the season.
McBride was on the books of Finn Harps last year before the St Columba’s College student returned to Seamus Doherty’s Cappry for this season.
