YOU CAN HEAR the enthusiasm in Myles Conway’s voice after his Drumkeen United side won the Saturday League Cup against Glencar Celtic.
The Drumkeen joint-manager saw his team produce a dramatic win at Dry Arch Park, with Peter McNamee clinching the 2-1 victory courtesy of a 92nd minute winning goal.
“I lay awake lost of the night last night thinking of the various scenarios,” Conway said afterwards. “You can never dream what’s going to happen but it was certainly dramatic. You just couldn’t write the script.”
Just last month, Glencar left St Patrick’s Park with a 6-0 win in the league but turned things around in spectacular fashion on Saturday.
The League Cup win marks a decent first season back in the Donegal League for Drumkeen, who made the choice to step aside from the Ulster Senior League last year.

“Hopefully next year – we’ve applied to the Donegal League – for the Sunday League,” Conway added. “It was nice to get back into the Donegal League. Hopefully that might mean this team goes to reserves and we hope to have a few of the youths next year.”
