DONEGAL PRODUCED A dramatic finish to win the Ulster Minor League against Tyrone in Maghera this afternoon.
Aidan McLaughlin from Naomh Padraig Muff scored a winning goal at the bitter end to seal a 3-9 to 1-13 win for the side managed by Shaun Paul Barrett.
It’s the third year in succession that Donegal have won the Ulster Minor League and it sets them up nicely for the Ulster MFC, where they will play the winner of the preliminary round tie between Antrim and Fermanagh in late May.
Joint-captains Niall O’Donnell from St Eunan’s and Cloughaneely’s Jason McGee accepted the trophy today on behalf of the Donegal panel.
“It was good to get revenge after Tyrone came up to Ballybofey and won this year,” McGee said. “There was a weird enough wind and Tyrone were never going to back down. We were ready for them.
“We knew everyone was going to keep going till the end. We needed that goal from Aidan McLaughlin and we’re over the moon. We’re buzzing now for the championship. It can’t come quick enough now.”
