LETTERKENNY ROVERS ARE on the road again this weekend.
Tomorrow, Eamon McConigley’s side take on Portmarnock FC on Sunday in the first round of the FAI Senior Cup – a week after a 1-1 draw in the semi-final of the FAI Intermediate Cup at Ringmahon Rangers.
That replay will take place on Sunday week but whatever hangover there might’ve been for conceding a last minute equaliser in Cork, can be eradicated in the biggest cup competition this weekend.
“If you dwell to much on it you come away doubting yourself so we’re really looking forward to the replay,” McConigley said.
“We’d have taken this at the start of the season. We’ve been to Dublin and Cork this season and got results.
“We’ve a big match now and it’ll definitely get last weekend out of our system. This is the type of game you want to be involved in. It gives everyone at the club a lift. These are the types of game you want to be involved in. Portmarnock are in the semi-finals of the FAI Intermediate Cup and are a good side.”
McConigley paid tribute to experienced players like Shane Bradley and Terence Shiels, two players who have returned to the club this season.
“When it comes to players like that, it’s how you manage them,” McConigley added. “They’re in great shape and they’re enjoying their football. All our success is coming from our players.”
