DID YOU EVER fancy trying surfing but didn’t know how to get started?
Murfs Surf School – in association with Donegal Sport Hub – are offering the chance to win lessons for a group of four in Bundoran.
Locally-based surf instructor Owen Murphy (pictured above) is the owner of Murfs Surf School.
As well as competing close to home, Owen has surfed for Ireland at both European and World level, in places like Indonesia, San Diego and on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Whilst Down Under in Terrigal, New South Wales, Owen worked alongside Glenn Hall, who now coaches Matt Wilkinson, the world’s No1 surfer.
Murfs Surf School is a new enterprise and is unique in the fact that it is literally run from Tullan strand, Bundoran, where the wild Atlantic rolls in.
“I’ve just set up the business and it’s a perfect area for it,” Owen told Donegal Sport Hub. “It works out of the trailer and offers people the chance to get involved a fun outdoor sport in the warmer water as the evenings get longer.”

The hourly rate for rentals – which includes a board and wetsuit – is €10, while it’s €15 for two hours and then €20 for the day. It’s €20 for children’s lessons for two hours and €30 for adults. Groups bookings are also available for hens, stags – with the stag or hen free – or for some who just want to get involved.
