SEAMUS GALLAGHER LED Kilcar to the Donegal SFC title in 1993 and didn’t manage again until yesterday.
Gallagher, who spent some time on PJ McGowan’s backroom team with the Donegal senior team in the mid-90s, has returned to management with Ardara this year.
Yesterday, after a 23-year absence, he was back on the line as Brendan McNelis’s late point gave Ardara a win over Glenswilly.
“I enjoyed it for my first game in a long time,” Gallagher told Donegal Sport Hub after the game.
“I enjoyed the atmosphere. There’s no difference to 20 years ago.
“It was a great way to win it with the last kick of the game.
“The Ardara team played very well and we were unlucky not to get more goals. It’s great to get two points for the first game of the League. There wasn’t much in it, but it’s great to get the win.”
