DAMIAN DEVANEY was delighted just to get into the thick of the action, although he quite enjoyed Sean MacCumhaills’ 12-point win over Glenfin.
Devaney was appointed back at the end of November to succeed Brendan Dunleavy and it took 12 weeks to get his tenure underway.
An early goal by Steven O’Reilly, a late one by Gavin Reilly and eight points in between times by Martin O’Reilly gave them a 2-13 to 0-7 win over their neighbours and rivals.
“We’ve been back training hard for the last two months so we’re just delighted to get the League up and running. It’s been a long time coming,” Devaney told Donegal Sport Hub – and he wants his team to aim high.
“We want to put on a promotion push. The main aim from the club is to get into Division 1.
“It was a good way to start and we’ll look to kick on from that. We were missing a good few men so hopefully we’ll get them back in again from next week and strengthen the panel again.”
