TWITTER CERTAINLY HAD GOOD fun after the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game between Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps was abandoned last night.
However, with four minutes remaining, some of the floodlights at The Showgrounds went off. After a delay of 15 minutes the referee, Padraigh Sutton, shrilled the final whistle and it will now be up to the FAI to decide what happens next.
The world of Twitter enjoyed the banter – and the referee wasn’t immune from criticism either:

The Bosnia vs Ireland game went on with that mad fog but the Finn Harps game was abandoned because a few lights went out ? #loi #Sligo

In addition to the floodlights, the lights went off in the tunnel before Ollie Horgan gave his thoughts too. pic.twitter.com/zR7U2nn4gJ

Be some joke if we don't get a point from tonight, 4 minutes left and was enough light to see out the end.

We have to get a point like? 4 mins left, hardly gonna replay it? I'm done with LOI if that has to be a replay.

If only @HistoryLOI. We reckon Sligo turned the lights off in case we scored a winner ? https://t.co/4792nO9xnF
