FINN HARPS MANAGER OLLIE HORGAN was in full support of the referee, Padraigh Sutton, after the abandonment of the game against Sligo Rovers last night.
With only 16 of the 48 floodlights at The Showgrounds working, Sutton called time.
While the Sligo Rovers manager, Dave Roberston, had sought to finish out the game, Horgan believed the referee made the right call.
“If we ended up with another serious injury to add to the list we already have I wasn’t going to take responsibility at that stage,” Horgan said.
“I presume that the result stands, but that’s a matter for the League in Abbotstown now.”
Chris Lyons had given Sligo the lead in the 11th minute, but an 82nd minute volley by Damien McNulty levelled for Harps.
Horgan said: “It was a game of two halves, but not quite a full second half!
“Sligo opened us up on several occasions and could have had the game put to bed in the first half.
“We were much better in the second half and deserved to get an equaliser.”
Sligo boss Roberston said: “I asked him to continue with the game, but Finn Harps were happy with the draw and feel that the result should stand.
“I wanted to continue with the game and see it out. We wanted to see it through, the players wanted to see it through, but it’s over to the League committee now.
