BONAGEE UNITED CAME through an entertaining Ulster Senior League encounter against Swilly Rovers in Ramelton.

The game began at a fast pace with Bonagee calling Swilly’s stand in keeper for the day Damien Friel, who deputised for the suspended Gareth Wade, into action early on.
Bonagee broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with Dean Larkin was left free in the box as two Swilly defenders challenged for the same ball, Larkin took full advantage of the mistake and slotted home from close range.
Swilly battled back shortly after and created chances with Kennedy Boache going close for the home side but feeling levelling it.
Swilly were punished for not taking their chances when the pacy Anthony Appiah put the visitors two up with five minutes to go before the half.
Things went from bad to worse for the Ramelton side as they conceded a penalty on the stroke of half time, referee Vincent McLoughlin having seen holding at a Bonagee corner and pointed to the spot decisively.
Ciaran Curran stepped up and converted the spot kick sending Friel the wrong way in the Swilly goal. Bonagee went in 3-0 up at half time.
The second half began as the first had ended with both sides on the front foot. Swilly pulled a goal back early in the second half through Kennedy Boache.
As Swilly pushed to close the gap Bonagee took advantage with some impressive passing moves on the break and were rewarded again when Dean Larkin struck again to put the Letterkenny side 4-1 up and killing the tie off.
Bonagee soon added a fifth through Ciaran Curran in the 65th minute. Dan O’Donnell managed to pull a goal back for Swilly from the penalty spot for the second week in a row but it was too late.
Bonagee added a sixth goal through the impressive Anthony Appiah while the evergreen Michael McHugh slotted a third goal for Swilly late on.
