AIDAN CALLAGHAN MIGHT’VE won Triathlon Ireland’s Super Series title last year, but he’d never won a 5k event until today.
The Letterkenny native has now, though, following his victory in the St Eunan’s 5k this afternoon in Letterkenny. Callaghan clocked 16 minutes and 28 seconds to come in ahead of Donal Farren and Daniel Hannigan. In all, 172 took part.

The team event was won by St Eunan’s minors – Farren, Kevin Kealy, Oisin Toal and Brian MacIntyre – whose accumulated time was 73 minutes and 19 seconds.
Naomh Conaill – with Eoin Waide, Eunan Doherty, Marty Boyle and Daragh Gallagher – were second in a combined time of 74 minutes and 28 seconds.
The first junior man to finish was Oisin O’Boyle and his time was 19:38.
First senior home was Lorraine Doyle with 24:08, with Ciara Finnegan the first junior woman. Her time was 20:27.
In the double men’s category, Liam Doherty and Eddie Sweeney were home in 17:59 to win the category. They beat Kevin and Brian Ferry into second.
The mixed doubles’ category was won by Frances Judge and Seamus Gallagher (pictured above) in 20:17.
