THE FIRST EVER All-County Football League Division 1 winning St Michael’s side took pride of place at the club’s annual dinner dance last night.
The victorious panel (pictured above by Moses Alcorn) were at Arnold’s Hotel in Dunfanaghy with the Democrat Cup, with Donegal Democrat journalist Eamonn McFadden – a native of Creeslough – joining Mick ‘Hudai’ McGinley as guests of honour.
McGinley made the journey from Kilcock, Co Kildare, and was a member of the St Michael’s team who won the Junior League in 1954. He presented that winners’ medal to the club.
The Division 1 success of 2015 was the club’s first ever at senior level.
Ciaran Gallagher and Andrew Kelly were named as the senior team joint-players of the year, with Ciaran Kelly the young player of the year.
Denis Trearty was reserve player of the year and the young reserve player of the year was Jamie Hunter.
Cathal Sweeney accepted the Under-21 player of the year on behalf of his brother Peter.
The club person of the year award went to Brian Dolan.
