DONEGAL CLAIMED SILVER medals in the GloHealth Inter County Cross Country Championships at the Palace Grounds in Tuam today.
The team on duty and scoring were the Inishowen pair of Pauric McKinney and David Porter with four Finn Valley members – James Speight, Mark Connolly, Kieran Carlin and Gerard Gallagher.
It was the 26th time that McKinney had competed in the competition, winning his 16th medal. Carlin now has 15, while Gallagher, Porter and Speight were taking medals home for the first time. Connolly, at 56, was the oldest man to score on any team in the competition.
Gary Thornton guided Galway to the Inter County title – their first title in 30 years in an event that has been dominated by Dublin.
