KILDRUM TIGERS WILL TAKE on Maiden City Academy in the last 16 of the Northern Ireland Under-14 Cup this Saturday.
Shane Porter’s team defeated National League outfit Ballinamallard United last month, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Goals by James Kernan and Shane Monaghan helped sent the tie to penalties, where the Tigers held their nerve.
On Saturday they’ll play Maiden City – another National League side – with a place in the quarter-finals the prize in an away game for the St Johnston side.
“We’ll go in and give it a real go,” Porter said.
“I personally think we can hurt them in certain areas but it will be a tight game from start to end.
“We have have the players to give it a real go. On our day, we’re a match for anyone.”
Kildrum, who play in the Derry and District League, will be up against some familiar opponents with Carrigans men Gavin McGee, Charlie White and Robbie O’Donnell all on the Maiden City side.
