CHLOE MAGEE WON HER tenth National Senior Championship title yesterday at the Baldoyle Babdminton Centre.
At the age of 17, the Raphoe woman topped Ruth Kilkenny to win her first.
Yesterday, she was the queen of Baldoyle once again as she overcame second seed Sara Boyle in straight sets, 21-7 21-11, to win the Carlton National Senior title for a tenth successive year.
It is her equivilant of La Décima and comes at the start of a year in which she hopes to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio.
“I never, ever thought that I’d be achieving something like ten of these in a row,” Magee told Donegal Sport Hub.
“It’s absolutely brilliant. It never actually occurred to me until someone asked me during the week how many I’d won and I started counting.
“When I realised I was so close to ten I wanted it so badly. I’m so proud to have done it.”
On Saturday, Magee defeated Sinead Chambers 21-11 21-18 and Gemma Tobin 21-10 21-7.
Yesterday, she put Moya Ryan out 21-10 21-5 before getting over Boyle in the final.
Magee said: “The first year in won this was the first year I really started playing properly.
“I’m in good shape and playing well so I knew I could be comfortable enough this weekend.”
It was a fine weekend again for the Magee siblings.
Chloe teamed up with her brother Sam to win the mixed doubes, defeating Ciaran Chambers and Sinead Chambers in the final 21-13 21-4, while Joshua and Sam Magee won the mens doubles, against Nhat Nguyen and Paul Reynolds 21-12 21-11.
