THE COMPETITIONS’ CONTROL COMMITTEE (CCC) have released the dates for the respective championships in 2016.
The RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta SFC will get underway with the first series of group games on the weekend of May 14/15, with the AllSports Donegal town IFC throwing in two weeks later.
Donegal open their Ulster SFC campaign with an outing on June 12 against whoever comes through the preliminary round tie between Fermanagh and Antrim.
The domestic championships will be put on hold but the second series of fixtures are provisionally pencilled on for August 28, with the third group games in the senior championship down for September 4.
From then on, there are free weekends if replays are required. The IFC final is to be played on October 9 with the SFC final a week later on October 16.
Should Donegal reach the semi-final stage of the All-Ireland Football Championship, the scheduled fixtures thereafter – which are provisional – will be revised.
Clubs have three weeks to look at the proposals and the master fixture list will be agreed by clubs at the next meeting of the Donegal county committee in March.
The CCC this week confirmed that they will re-draw the groups for the championships and although no date has been set as yet, it appears that will happen in late February.
The IFC and Junior A Football Championships will also be redrawn.
