LETTERKENNY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY this evening progressed to the last eight of the Umbro Cup following a win at Institute of Technology Sligo.

Goals from Daire McDaid, Pete Doherty and Jamie Boyle clinched victory for the side managed by Shane Byrne, who have a Colleges’ and Universities Football League Division One semi-final away from home against IT Carlow next week.
Mark Connaughton had put the hosts in front on nine minutes but McDaid levelled the tie six minutes before the break. Central defenders Doherty and Boyle added further goals after the break.
Sligo had a host of Donegal players – former Finn Harps and Derry City midfielder Brian McGroary, along with goalkeeper Jason Quinn from Lagan Harps, Swilly Rovers’ Ronan Sweeney, Conor Blaney from Fanad United, Derry City’s Chris Flanagan and Michael Patton of Drumkeen United.
LyIT will face the winners of Waterford IT and IT Tallaght, away, in the last eight of the Umbro Cup.
