The 40th DONEGAL SPORTS STAR AWARDS nominees in Cycling for the 2015 season are three determent young ladies.
The trio – Ciara Doogan, Amanda Gallagher and Shauna McFadden – are focused on a pro cycling career in the future who remain in education and managing to balance the work load from school and though training schedule that the sport demands of them.
Ciara Doogan (pictured above) from Gortahork is last year’s recipient of this prize and is now a second year Junior. She is an all-rounder on the cycling scene who has virtually traveled the globe representing Ireland from track racing throughout Europe and competing at the UCI World Road Race Championships held in Richmond, Virginia, USA.
Ciara is a National and Ulster Medal Winner of both track and road races for many years. She is now a student at UCD in Dublin.
Amanda Gallagher (pictured above) is a native of Dunlewey, is a fifth year student at The Rosses Community School Dungloe.
She is a National Champion and Ulster Champion at Road Racing and on the track who represented Ireland at the 2015 European Youth Olympics held in Tiblisi, Georgia in late July.
Amanda also rounded of the year with a win at the Velodrome Track in Alkmar, Netherlands, where she was racing the Junior Category.
The 15-year-old got called up again to the Cycling Ireland Talent Team will be cycling in the Under-16’s youth division both here and abroad for 2016.

Shauna McFadden (pictured above) hails from Letterkenny and a student at Loreto Collage.
This year sees Shauna move up to the Junior section from the U-16’s. She also represented Ireland at the European Youth Olympics in Tiblisi, Georgia, returning home to win an Ulster and National medal now looking forward to the 2016 calender
