DAMIEN DUDDY will return to action on March 5 when he takes on Garrett Smylie at The White Horse Hotel in Derry.
It will be the St Johnston man’s first fight since he made the move to Mayhem Martial Arts.
‘Kid Dynamite’ Duddy has joined up with the Pennyburn-based academy and will take to the ring for a bout with Belfast’s Smylie in six weeks’ time.
Last July, Duddy defeated Athlone’s Matty Ryan to win the ISKA Irish amateur 60kg K-1 title.
His K-1 bout with Smylie will be at 67kgs.
“We are delighted to have a fighter of his calibre among our fight team,” Mayhem Martia Arts said.
“There aren’t many Irish fight fans that haven’t seen Damien do the business and he’ll be hoping for an impressive win.”
Smylie trains under Jamie Crawford at Langka Muay Thai in Belfast and he boasts a 75 per cent knockout ratio, not to mention being one of the biggest Muay Thai prospects to emerge from Belfast in recent times.
Also on March 5, Steve Owens – who trains with SBG in Dublin, the home of Conor McGregor – will take on Dawid Blaszke in a professional K-1 bout.
