KILCAR’S FINGERPRINTS WERE all over University of Ulster Jordanstown’s win over Armagh in the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup last night.
With Martin McHugh calling the shots from the sideline, Patrick McBrearty, who bagged 1-2, was named as man of the match at the Athletic Grounds, while Ryan McHugh also played his part from right wing-back in the 1-9 to 2-7 victory.

McBrearty scored a 17th minute goal – adding to Conan Grugan’s three-pointer nine minutes beforehand – to help his side to a 2-2 to 0-4 half-time lead. Michael McKenna got Armagh back into the contest in the second half but a late Ronan McNamee scored sealed the one-point win for UUJ.
The victory was UUJ’s second of the competition, having defeated Monaghan 2-16 to 1-9 in Clones before going down 3-14 to 0-10 against Cavan to seal second place in Group C.
That wasn’t enough to seal a semi-final place but UUJ can look forward to the Sigerson Cup, which they host on February 19/20.
