THERE WAS DISAPPOINTMENT for the Donegal connection involved with the John Mitchels team from Liverpool today.
With Colm Gallagher of Mountcharles and Conal Beag Cunningham from Glencolumbkille as part of the management team, the Lancashire side lost out at PaĂrc na hÉireann in Birmingham to Templenoe from Kerry, 2-8 to 0-6, in the All-Ireland Junior Football Club Championship quarter-final.
Mitchels trailed 1-5 to 0-1 at half-time. Templenoe now take on Leinster champions, Curraha from Meath in the All-Ireland semi-final in two weeks’ time. The other last four clash sees Rockcorry of Monaghan take on Mayo’s Ardnaree Sarsfields.
In February of last year, another Kerry side, Brosna, defeated Mitchels in the All-Ireland JFC final at Croke Park. In 2009, the Liverpool club also reached the final, where they lost 0-10 to 0-9 to Skellig Rangers, also from Kerry.
