AHEAD OF HIS return to the octagon for a bout with Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas tonight, Joseph Duffy has acknowledged that a meeting with Conor McGregor could be on the horizon.
The Burtonport-born Duffy (14-1) meets Poirier at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the Donegal man’s third fight since joining the UFC in 2015.
The bout is a rescheduled meeting after Duffy had to pull out of their contest in Dublin three months ago because of concussion.
Both fighters have fought McGregor, with Duffy the last man to have beaten the Dubliner, who overcame Poirier when they met.
Although the fight with the rejuvenated Poirier is the main objective, Duffy says that a rematch with McGregor is quite the possibility for 2017.

“Without a doubt, I feel that we could sell Croke Park out,” Duffy told MMAFightingonSBN.
“It’d be like the Gaelic, Donegal versus Dublin. I feel that by the end of the year, people are going to be talking a lot more about that…I don’t think in 2016, but maybe in 2017.”
