JOSEPH DUFFY takes on Dustin Poirier at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night in his third contest since signing with the UFC.
Duffy’s complete record as a mixed martial artist is 14-1 and the 27-year-old is hoping to add to that record in Las Vegas when he meets Poirier in a rescheduled bout.
Duffy was unable to fight Poirier in Dublin in October because of concussion, but will take to the octagon this weekend.
Among Duffy’s notable wins is a triumph over Conor McGregor in 2010. Duffy is the last man to defeat ‘The Notorious’
At Cage Warriors 39 at Neptune Stadium in Cork in Cork, Duffy defeated McGregor after only 38 seconds by way of an arm-triangle choke.
“I believe I can take Conor out just as quickly,” Duffy said recently when asked of a possible rematch.
“Everyone else has noticed Conor has greatly improved, and so am I. Everything Conor does, I feel can beat him at, he uses more kicks. I’ve been doing taekwondo since I was five. There’s not an area I feel he can beat me.”
