LETTERKENNY JOCKEY Martin Harley rode a 12/1 winner at Ascot today in the Shergar Cup Challenge.
Harley superbly steered Mistiroc to success in the Shergar Cup Challenge, one of the races in the Shergar Cup.
Mistronic, trained by John Quinn, won in Chester in July, and began well at Ascot, with Harley excellent at the controls to win from Duretto, under the direction of Emma-Jayne Wilson.
“It didn’t look like there was much pace in the race and, to be fair, I had it easy up front,” Harley said afterwards.
[adrotate group=”37”]“I let him slide down the back, but up the hill we got a good breather.
“It’s his second time in the visor and it’s definitely put an edge on him. He picked up really well.
“He got in a good rhythm and I was very pleased with him.”
The Rest of the World team won the day with 68 points, Europe were next on 65, the Ladies had 54 points and GB & Ireland, for whom Harley was riding, were fourth with 53 points.
